Annotation App

Where is the Annotation App?

This is what the Annotation App looks like. You can open the Annotation App by clicking on the "Start Labeling" button on the top navbar. There are a few other ways to open it, for example, on the Label List tab. See below for details.

From the Navbar:

This is the navbar you will see on the Project page. The blue button that says "Start Labeling" will open up the Annotation App.

From the Label List tab:

When you hover your mouse on a label in the Label List tab, an "Edit Label" button will show. Click this to open up the Annotation App.

From the Label Detail modal view:

When you click on a label (not the "Edit Label" button), a Label Detail modal view will pop-up. On the bottom-right corner, you will find another "Edit Label" button. Click this to open the Annotation App.

What can I do on the Annotation App?

The Annotation App is where you create and edit annotations for each label. On the Superb AI Suite, there's a distinct difference between an Annotation and a Label. In short, an Annotation refers to each of the meta-tags (i.e. bounding box or polygon for image data) that are added to a raw data file, whereas a Label refers to a collection of all the annotations for a raw data file.

What's on the Annotation App?

This is the main canvas of the Annotation App. Choose from the set of available tools (i.e. Select, Draw, Move, Delete, etc.) and start adding annotations to your label.

After you are done, you can submit your work by clicking on the Submit button at the bottom-right. This will change the label's status as Submitted. There's also a button for you if you are not sure what to do with a label — maybe the data is corrupted or you are unsure what to annotate. Clicking this will change the label's status as Skipped.

The Cabinet is where you can add details to each annotation. You will see the list of annotations you have for the current label, their class, annotation ID number, and also additional properties, if any.

Select or enter the correct values for the class and properties.

You can open the drawer by clicking "Open Label List" at the top-right corner. This opens up a side drawer that shows the list of labels that you are assigned to.

You will see the first 10 labels that you are assigned to. If you are not assigned any label, or are done with all assigned labels, you can also click on the "Assign me a new label" to assign yourself a label.

This is especially useful when you are collaborating with multiple users. Some user roles can only access labels that they are assigned to, and it may be difficult for someone to assign label tasks every time. In such a scenario, a user can self-assign more tasks to complete.
